Events have really changed over the last five years. Every day more run/walk events pop up — you can have color thrown on you, be chased by zombies, run through mud and crazy obstacles. But are many of these events truly something for the whole family?
Eleven years ago, in creating our charity event to support the Fetal Health Foundation (formerly Race for Fetal Hope), we wanted an event that catered not only to the runner-athlete but to everyone in the family — a fun experience from the starting line, along the course, at a celebratory finish, and in fun post-event activities for all ages from 1 to 99. We needed a name that reflected the fun atmosphere we had created. When we brainstormed timeless family fun games like Chutes and Ladders and Candy Land, we realized we all get a bit giddy about the idea of the peppermint forest, the shortcut at gumdrop pass, and the lollipop woods. Hence The Great Candy Run was born.
Our world includes fun candy-themed dance routines, surprise flash mobs, on-course fun and entertainment, sweet aid stations, and a truly fun family post-event expo with a candy shop, kids’ carnival games, music, refreshments, crafts, and costume contests. The best part is it’s something to be enjoyed by the whole family. What are you waiting for? Come join us in our sweet, sweet world!
